Do Hardware Keyloggers Work With Apple Mac Keyboards?

Only with wired Mac keyboards, and only using a Mac-compatible model. Internal laptop keyboards and the Mac wireless series are never captured.

Macs are a nuanced topic. The short answer: use a Mac-compatible model, and only with an external wired keyboard.

What can never be captured

  • Built-in laptop keyboards — no hardware keylogger can reach these.
  • The Mac wireless keyboard series.

Wired Mac keyboards

Standard wired Mac keyboards work, with one catch: the aluminum A1243 is a USB hi-speed device that needs a special hardware architecture (which we call MCP). Because of this, you must choose a keylogger explicitly marked as Mac-compatible — both AirDrive and KeyGrabber lines have Mac versions.

Bottom line

Pick a Mac-compatible AirDrive or KeyGrabber and use it with an external wired keyboard. Internal and wireless Apple keyboards are out of scope.
