Do Hardware Keyloggers Work With Wireless Keyboards?

Yes, with standard USB-dongle wireless keyboards — including the Logitech Unifying receiver. Bluetooth and Mac wireless keyboards are not supported.

Our hardware keyloggers work with a standard wireless keyboard that uses a USB dongle receiver, including the Logitech Unifying receiver. The logger sits inline between that USB receiver and the computer.

What is and isn't supported

  • Supported: wireless keyboards with a USB radio dongle.
  • Not supported: Bluetooth keyboards, and Apple Mac wireless keyboards.

What actually gets logged

Only the data flowing from the USB receiver into the computer is captured — not the wireless radio transmission itself. If the receiver is a combined keyboard-and-mouse unit, some mouse traffic may occasionally appear in the log. There are ways to handle this if it becomes a problem.

Bottom line

If your keyboard talks to the PC through a USB dongle, a hardware keylogger will capture it. For Bluetooth or Mac wireless keyboards, it won't.
